Goodness me this story annoyed me. It was well written but the main character was so annoying. Yeah, it's important to see everyone as human, but that doesn't mean you just let someone off the hook for killing someone. By focusing on making the killer look sympathetic and manipulating peoples emotions, he's ignoring the fact that a person's life was brutally taken. Justice should be about acknowledging the harm done and making sure there are consequences. Dude is so busy trying to get people to feel sorry for the killer that he completely overlooks the victim and the impact on their loved ones. It's like he's forgotten that there's a dead person who didn't get a chance to plead for THEIR life. Justice means giving a voice to the victim and ensuring the community feels safe and secure. It's not just about fear, but justice. Sure, fear plays a part, but it's about holding people accountable for their actions and protecting the community from future harm He's being super naive at the expense of common sense and safety. Some actions, like murder, are so severe that they need FIRM consequences. His approach is like letting a dangerous person walk free just because you feel bad for them. Society NEEDS accountability to function. If you don't hold people accountable for their actions, you're basically saying it's okay to do whatever you want without consequences. That's a slippery slope to chaos which is revealed at the conclusion of the story. By arguing against severely punishing the killer, the main character is undermining the very idea of justice and order. I like how in the end he ends up serving the sentence to the people who killed the killer that the actual killer should have gotten in the first place. Wow. More lives would have been spared.

I’m really getting irritated with all the gold light sabers popping up recently. First with Rey now three other Jedi just randomly have it. There’s a reason why we didn’t see gold in ALL of the battles in the orig trig or the prequels. Because light saber colors have meaning. Gold is reserved for temple guards and basically the special forces of the Jedi order. Jedi going undercover deep into enemy territory and starting rebellions. Etc. they aren’t going to be dressed like Jedi and they aren’t going to be busting out their light sabers all the time like The Knights. Aka the blue light sabers. They only saved their sabers for the Sith.

I've been listening to tons of stories on this channel for the past few days ever since I discovered it, and this one really caught me off guard. I was not expecting anything here to make me cry. I don't think reading/listening to any story has ever made me cry before this one. This was one of the best stories I've heard so far.

I prefer longer and less frequent stories; it feels better that way to me. Whatever you decide to do will still be your stuff, which is amazing. Thanks so much for continuing to make stuff, you're the best on the site at narration that I've found so far, I'm sure you hear it a lot but you hear it so much because it's the truth.

what an amazing concept, and a very immersive writing. The inclusion of the portal and creatures extremely saddened me, it took away the amazing core of the story being purely psychological, and took away precious time that we needed for some answers, and even adding more questions unrelated to the core idea.

I wonder if any one in the "Followers Of The Way" church out of Boston have hears this story. 🤔

Might be a hot take but this interpretation of the backrooms is both better written and more intense than any “official” lore. A seemingly infinite labyrinth that bends our perception of reality, full of strange objects, strange food, and only inhabited by a few unexplainable creatures. This “glitched” section of reality that we were never meant to enter. No factions, no five thousand different entities, no hundreds of different levels. Sometimes, less truly is more.

I really liked this story and the VA for the characters. I even don't mind her sightings after the bet was done; if she's Chance, it's probably that she could be everywhere at once and winning just made the main character able to see her now. It's the monster form I don't like; I think it's very tacked on and hokey. If she just gave off menace looking like a human I think it'd be 10/10.

Wow… just wow. I’m listening at work and the end made the water works flow. Wow. This is one story that I won’t be able to listen to a second time and I mean that in a good way.❤

I don’t know why, but these kinds of stories aren't really scary to me personally. They just make me sick to my stomach. Really weird.
